Off the beaten path, Hotel Rio Perdido (Lost River) is Located in the nearby village of San Bernardo de Bagaces. This upscale boutique hotel offers twenty bungalow built in an extraordinarily rustic area, surrounded by a unique dwarf forest and volcanic rocks, solitary rugged mountains, hot springs and a cloudless sky at the foot of the Miravalles volcano.
Each of the hotel’s private bungalows are built into the canyon walls of two converging arroyos where the cool Rio Blanco meets the hot waters of Rio Perdido and a third stream adds a final touch of perfection.
Every bungalow features a large balcony with a hammock, a bright accent wall (to match the splash of color on the exterior walls) and colorful throw pillows. The plush white beds are divine, and a trundle bed can accommodate a third person. On the walls, framed photographs of trees hang alongside 42-inch TVs and powerful air-conditioning units. The bathrooms are small but adequate.
