highway

The new highway, with a total distance of 27 km (17 mi), will join the Sarapiquí and Aguas Zarcas communities and save over an hour of travel time (60 km/37 mi) for commutes between the Caribbean and Arenal Volcano areas.

The opening of this highway is scheduled for August 20th, 2017 and will hopefully have a very positive impact not only on the tourism sector, but also on the export sector, which uses the main seaport’s services located in Limon on the Caribbean Coast.

According to Mr. Roberto Fernández, CEO of Pacuare Lodge, “decreasing travel times between destinations will create a better dynamic for touristic activity in general and help us to maximize all of our visitor’s enjoyment time”.
